Nielsen: 10% of U.S. Households Unready for Digital Switch

More than 10 percent of households in the U.S. will not be able to receive television signals come Feb. 17, 2009, unless they buy a new TV or a converter box.

Nielsen data shows that 13 million households have TV sets that can only receive analog broadcasts; another 6 million have at least one TV set that will no longer work after the big switch to digital broadcasting, writes Mediaweek.

Older households are more prepared than younger households, while whites and Asians are more prepared than blacks and Hispanics.
